ガンとの闘病で長らく表舞台から遠ざかっていた坂本龍一が、NHKのスタジオでピアノソロを収録。2020年コロナ禍のなかで行った配信コンサート以来2年ぶりに坂本龍一の演奏が戻ってきた。先に行われた配信とこの番組、そして現在編集中の長編コンサート映画の収録を行ったのは、自身がその響きをこよなく愛するNHKの509スタジオ。病により演奏を長く続ける体力がないため撮影は1日2,3曲時間をかけて丁寧に行われた。ニューヨークから信頼する撮影チームを招き盤石の体制で収録した演奏から選り抜きの名曲を紹介。また8日間にわたる撮影の舞台裏やインタビューなど貴重な映像満載でお届けする。 　　曲目 「Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence」、「The Last Emperor」、「Tong Poo」 他。

The Piano is a new talent show that will profile the best amateur pianists in the UK, performing on pianos at four stations around the country. Unbeknownst to the contestants, it's not just a documentary: it's also a competition.
